iPhone Premiere, Pasadena

A happy teenager from La Canada proudly holds the first iPhone sold at the Apple Store in Pasadena. Long lines of anxious buyers, along with hovering media crews, waited in the summer heat until the 6:00 pm launch of the new digital gadget.

Oldest McDonald's, Downey

This McDonald's at the intersection of Lakewood and Florence Blvds. in the City of Downey is the oldest restaurant in the chain of over 30,000 worldwide. Originally built in 1953, it survived threats of demolition and now has an adjacent McDonald's museum. Also shown in the dual-image is the top part of the 60-foot-high "Speedee the Chef" sign at the corner of the property.

Tour Bus, West Hollywood

A Starline Tours "topless" bus turns across Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood carrying a load of sightseers and tourists. Starline has been a tour guide since 1935.

Lady Liberty, El Monte

Wait. . .isn't this L.A. Snapshot? Why is there a photo of the Statue of Liberty? OK, it's a replica named "Lady Liberty", donated to the City of El Monte by a local businessman in commemoration of the city's 75th anniversary of incorporation in 1987. The statue is near the entrance of the El Monte Civic Center on Valley Blvd.

Mt. Wilson Trail, San Gabriel Mountains

This view of a portion of the San Gabriel Valley is from the Mt. Wilson Trail, in the Little Santa Anita Canyon area of the San Gabriel Mountains. The Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia is visible near the center of the frame.

Metrolink Station, Claremont

The Metrolink Station in Claremont was originally built in 1927 as a depot for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Coaching Clinic, Hacienda Heights

Pier Fishing, Redondo Beach

This is an image from my archives, a photograph made nearly 15 years ago. Fishermen squeeze in like sardines along the railings of the Redondo Beach Pier in Redondo Beach. The precursor to this pier was built at the same site in 1916 and was named the "Endless Pier".

The unique stainless steel structure at the corner of Robertson and Olympic Blvds. in Beverly Hills is a BP (British Petroleum) gas station called "Helios House".

Pedestrian Overpass, Lakewood

This pedestrian overpass above Del Amo Blvd. in Lakewood connects two sections of Boyar Park. The motto on the overpass reads - "Times Change * Values Don't".

Fire Station, Hawaiian Gardens

While the name of Hawaiian Gardens may conjure up images of lush tropical landscape, the reality is that it's a gritty little city at the southeast corner of L.A. County. The fire truck at LACoFD Station 34 appears to be ready to serve the one-square-mile community.

Pink Cadillac, Cypress

LAX, Westchester

The entrance to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in Westchester is lined with palm trees and 10-story high translucent glass pylons. The pylons, part of the Kinetic Light Installation, light up at night in different colors, providing a landmark to visitors flying into L.A.

Swim Stadium, El Segundo

The Urho Saari Swim Stadium in El Segundo, is a classic indoor plunge with a well-maintained pool. It was built in 1940 and named after Urho Saari, who was an Olympic water polo coach and the El Segundo High School's aquatics coach from 1941 through 1973.
